And we don’t want our hands to get dirty because of our mothers
or the fathers who left us with our eyes turned outward
in our little bed covers.
The patterns of sheep and stars
and the stories told by, go by, we’re molded by…
until tomorrow - -
clouds white, sun high.
Changed by nights, days.
The shame of September,
the ways of hand-made lady dolls
play two doors down.
Their hands are crawling
and we’re never afraid.

HANSEL: Close your eyes. (She does just that). Now think of something that makes you happier than anything else in the world. (Gretel closes her eyes tighter, in deep concentration). What do you see?
GRETEL: I see kitty. And number thirty-two. And now Poppa — before his beard.
HANSEL: Good, now open your eyes. (She does what he asks). Now stick out your pinky finger, like this, and trace a pattern on the rug. Whichever one feels right. (Gretel stares intently at the rug for a moment, chooses a pattern, then begins to run her pinky along it’s shape).
HANSEL: Follow it to the end. Good, good. Now, close your eyes again and repeat after me: Lead us home, lead us home, wherever we may roam, lead us home.

Imagining a rain that pours down.
Steady -
Fast -
Faster -
“Please,” says the Ghost.
“The rain will be here soon to wash your hands
or you’ll never get clean.”
The insides of your mind
with eraserheads, or a dark, dark story of the past.
“Include me,” said my little brother.
The younger one —
with eyes grey, eyes blue.
Blue as the day I finally came
and we all drowned in a sea of darkness.
A Three Person Story by Carly, Garrison, and Chad
And, no…we didn’t look at what the person before our turn wrote.
